Tower of London

Today me, Tilly, Mummy, Debbie, Elise and Taryn went to London to see its tower. After a while Debbie, Elise and Taryn wandered off and left me, Tilly and Mummy to wander off ourselves.

When we got there, we headed to ‘The Crown Jewels’. We saw Tudor saltspoons, crowns with huge sapphires and emeralds – and not to forget the gold, bronze and silver, platinum too. There was a whole crown made entirely of platinum! :O (It had a huge ruby on it too.)

Then we saw Traitors Gate. It sounds boring – being sat in front of a plain gate, but  it was actually quite intresting. People like Queen Elizabeth I was put in prison by her sister Mary and taken out by a boat through the gate. Underneath was fully water.

Inside the White Tower were metal armour suits which within held helmets, swords, knee pads (made from metal) and other glorious things like that.

Up the staircases of the imprisoned people room were painted bear tracks, leading to a real, thick, black-barred cage to trap the poor animal in. Sometimes they caught just normal strolling-along bears for fish slaves, and they did once with a polar bear 🙁

We had a few worksheets to fill in as we went along. Do you know what a portcullis is, maybe someone?

My sister wrote about it and added some different photos too 🙂
