Yesterday we went to Oxford. This time, Andy came too!
First note – I had to leave my favourite piece of lime by a bin, unfortunately, and also I’m an extremely citrussy girl so this made me nearly cry. You know what breakfast I had today? Not yesterday – today? I had lemon curd on toast with a hint of MY OWN LIME I BOUGHT IN THE SHOP, some limey drink from MY LIME, apple and brown sauce***(ASTERXIES – look at bottom of page) – and so many bits of lime I’ve got some stuffed in a bag I’m so full! Which is extremely unusual.
Firstly we had lunch, for it took a LONG time to get there. We had some beany quinoay stuff (pronounced keen-wah) and then we headed off for our murderous Treasure Trail. We had suspects and suspicous killing tools on the back of our sheets for clues. We had to mark them all off when we solve but d a clue, like detectives do. It was (in my opinion) better than the one in London. We had to find embarks on walls and the ground, sticky out posts and signs, statues – like the two Roberts – and a lot of dates. There was 1947 I think, so don’t go searching for ‘Oxford 1947 dates building embarks’ – NO NO NO. You might find it, but it was either 1947 or 1847, but it might not of even been 47 on the end. I don’t have the best memory, people, Caitlin, everyone, apart from my breakfast earlier on 😉 but
We found surnames and crossed them off – and weapons – and then we found the murderer – I better not tell you. Yes, that’s the answer – in case you want to do the Trail.
Me and Andy looked at this dried ‘Bladder Fish’ in a museum, and then I told Tilly and we all started to look in its dried, weird mouth – and there we saw inside it. Not its organs and its bladders and things, the museum-people had taken those out, but inside it as in it was just an empty, light hole. Luckily we didn’t see any red and gory bits, but we saw other red and gory bits…I don’t know if they were real or plastic, 1 I didn’t want to touch it in case, 2 It had a cage around it and finally, 3 It looked too gory so I wouldn’t touch it even it was painted plastic. Done. I don’t really want to talk about gory stuff.
Also in the museum we saw this ‘put 20p in here and you can see the earth go round for a month’ thing. It wasn’t the real earth, of course, and it lasted a SHORT-SHORT-SHORT time. 🙁 But even then it was worth it.
Yarn bombing is when people (when no one’s looking) start knitting on things – and here – on a lamp post, we saw our first see-one. And it was brilliant.
***I’m much crazier then you think, Caitlin! Brown sauce and apple – limey day of limeness – oooh, my mouth’s still on a limey-flavoured fire. Oh, and Caitlin? If you’re this interested on mine and Tilly’s websites, comment! Click on a post, and just COMMENT!
