Yesterday I went to the Space Centre in Leicester with my club Beavers. I was the only one in my family there. The coach journey was long, about an hour. I sat there with my friend Lottie and wrote in my notepad games and stuff.
When we got there I was VERY excited. I forgot to get a pad and pen from my backpack when it was put in the lunch room but it didn’t matter so much – I still remembered lots of facts 🙂
Did you know that – actually, I better just ask you – do you believe in aliens? Well, you’re an alien! Humans are aliens themselves. It’s likely that in all the solar systems there are other living things, but then to be aliens they need to be thinking things like us, and we’re aliens to them and they’re aliens to us.
Did you know that Jupiter is the biggest planet in our solar system? In my trip, because I forgot my notepad, I think it was either Uranus or Neptune that was the coldest planet in our solar system, also knows as The Milky Way.
We went up a big lift and I saw a rocket! Two! The first was called Thor Able and another (I think) was Blue Streak.
Also, we went to the Planetarium, which is like a cinema. We watched this cool Space thing called ‘Are We Alone?’ And, in our solar system, we are aliens, as I’ve already explained. Kind of. As I’ve said, you are an alien. An alien yourself. There are many, many, many solar systems in the Universe, and we haven’t even explored ours yet – but it’s quite likely that we’re not alone in the Universe. I’m almost telling you that we are not totally alone.
On Mars there’s bacteria, but apart from that, there’s probably nothing. Your alien idea is that there are peopley things that have green skin and antennas with huge eyes on the end or something, but if there are more of us, then they probably won’t look like that at all. Bmm bmm bmmmmmm!!!
I’d like to go back again and go in the Simulator, and when we do Big History we could go back and learn about the Big Bang and how the Earth was formed.
