My First Cubs Hike

As you might already know in one of my other posts, I’ve started a club which is the level up from Beavers. It’s later than Beavers, it starts when Beavers ends. Yesterday we went on a hike in the woods (it was about eight – I don’t know what time Cubs starts). Guess what? Andy came too! I made a new friend there called Anna, and she was really nice. Mummy gave me and William a packet of Mentos to share to our friends. I shared some with Anna, and William said he found someone to share them with.

Our leader said she was moving around the lodges (lodges are basically what group we’re in) next week, and she said Icould be with Anna if I wanted to, which I do.

The hike was about 2 hours, but it felt (to me) 30 minutes! I think our leader meant to have quite a ‘not very long’ walk because the Cubs might not like long walks (apart from me – I love them). I had a snack of a cerial bar and a little bottle of water. William didn’t eat his snack, I don’t think. At that time I had a feeling that we’d be turning back along the sheep poo again, and if we did, we’d be turning back after (to me) about 15 minutes. Not that I didn’t like the hike, it was amazing, but I’d say a bit longer.

Forgetting about how ‘short’ it was:

We went across a field of sheep, and when Andy shone his REALLY bright torch over to our left we could see a big gate-pen with all the sheep in it – they had red, strange, devilly eyes that glew in the dark – they gave me the evils. When I came as I close as I was allowed to, my torch wasn’t even as bright as William’s, so it wouldn’t shine too much.

Our boots were really muddy and squelchy, and William’s were quite easy to get off, because they were wellies and they weren’t as muddy as mine… Mine were probably the muddiest, and they were hiking boots with laces, so Andy had to use his perfectly clean hands to untie my perfectly muddy laces – then he had to take them off, then he had to carry me into the car without getting his trousers muddy with mine!!!
