Yesterday, Andy dropped me off at gym, like he sometimes does. But he didn’t come back when it ended, he came back at 7 – with Mummy and Tilly.
This was because this session wasn’t any old session. It was a display that I was doing.
Firstly, we practiced until 7 o’clock, when the parents came. I think our show went quite well, considering there was a load of people in front of us doing the same thing 😉 We had to do shoulder stands, bridges, funny things…oh, I’m going to teach you how to do one of the funny things.
Stand normally on the floor, with your feet fairly apart and your arms by your sides. Then move your right foot forward. After doing that, put your left foot over to the right, so that you’ll have criss-cross feet. Then move your right foot back again and the same with the left. Do this twice, before you move on to the next thing, which I am about to explain.
As I’ve said, you do the criss-cross thing twice and then you do this. So do the criss-cross thing twice, and then put your feet quite fairly apart again. Put your right foot on its heel with its toes pointing up. Do the same with your left foot, once the other one is down on the floor again. Do the right once, the left once, the right once and again then the left once. Well done!
At 7, like I said, all the parents came in. To me, it didn’t feel at all like I’d get the display muddled up because of them all staring at us so hard, but I think the others probably did but tried to keep going. My Motto:
Get muddled up? Don’t give up.
At the end, my gym teacher and the one who ran the display chose trophies for some of the ‘acrobats’. I really hoped I would get one, but then I noticed that I had done a mistake in my display, where I at first did something different from a dish…
We also did this routine thing, where we lined up at the bottom of the mat and did forward rolls and things. We did bridges***ASTERIXES A***, backward roll to straddle***ASTERIXES B***, cartwheels***ASTERIXES C*** and headstands***ASTERIXES D*** and things. I nearly did a cartwheel! I can’t exactly do them, but once I’ve got a million people watching me I try harder – just for some unknown reason…
***ASTERIXES A*** Bridges are when you lie down and put your hands over your head so that your fingers are pointing towards your feet. Then pull yourself up so that you’re in the shape of a bridge.
***ASTERIXES B*** Backward roll to straddle is when you do a backward roll and end up with your legs far apart and you get up like that.
***ASTERIXES C*** Cartwheels are wen you stand up with your arms high in the air and then you kind of stand on your hands like a handstand and then you sort of go round in a star-shape…if you don’t get it, ask your mum 😉
***ASTERIXES D*** a headstand is where you stand on your head with your toes pointing straight up to the sky.
Now I’m off to my first Christmas party! I have two parties in two days!
