Our friends’ mum from ice-skating organised a sports club. It was really fun when we tried it out. First we played a warm-up game where everyone but two people used t-shirts as tails, tucking them into their tracksuit. Then the two people who didn’t have tails would have to run after the tail-people and try to catch their tails. If your tail was caught, you had to stand on one leg for five seconds before being set free again with your tail. It was very fun!
Then we lined up to play basic hockey games. You were given a hockey stick and a ball to try to bat towards the lady at the other side. The lady would then bat it back to you, and you to her, until you or she dropped the ball. Then you were sent back to your team and the next person would have a go. The first time I tried it, when the lady batted the ball back to me from someone else’s go, I simply could not control it. But then, once I had caught from the other side of the room, I gave it quite an easy go and it scuttled off to the lady, and the sound of my team’s cheers ringing in my ears told me I had done a good job.
We played some other games like dodgeball. That was my favourite. There was a big ball in the middle with a bouncy surface and an easy-to-roll top-and-bottom. Each team (ours, Team Finish-First, and Tilly’s, Team Win) was armed with lots of different dodgeballs. They had to throw the balls at the biggest one (Daddy and children) so that when the whistle blew the dad wouldn’t be on their side. Team Finish-First won most of them, but Team Win won quite a few rounds, too.
I hope I get to go again next week, it’s really fun!
