Have I told you about our new drama club lately? It’s really fun. Chanel has taught us loads of dance moves and songs, and I am so excited about the real perfomance, as it’s so close up! We’re going to have dress rehearsals and all sorts before we really go on. I’ve started to practice singing in front of lots of people so that I don’t get nervous on the stage. At the actual thing, I’m going to sing my own solo song in front of everbody there – all the grandparents, parents, younger and older siblings, aunts and uncles – called ‘Naughty‘. It’s from the musical ‘Matilda’. So that I don’t get too hesitant on the stage, I went to the drama club and said that I wanted to sing my song in front of all the children there, and Chanel, and her friend Conna. Even I felt a little nervous when handed a microphone… but I did it, all the same, and I’m very proud of myself. I thought that in case I did get twitchy with everyone staring at me, all the rest of the kids would stand in a long line behind me with their own actions, so Chanel said she would give them their own dance moves.
Talking about drama, William and I signed in for an audition for Peter Pan. Tilly didn’t want to go, so she stayed and played with her friend Sadie. I think she would have liked it if she went – firstly, they lined us up from 75 to 89 – I was 88, William was 87 – and then they took us into the theatre room and told us to sing five lines of a very nice particular song from Peter Pan. First we all sang in together, then we did it individually. I know the five lines off by heart now:
There’s always [alwaaaaaaaaays] tomorrow
[Pause]
There’s probably [quickly] soon [sooon]
There’s maybe, or sometime;
Some day, or some year;
Or in a blue moon [mooooon]
Did you like it? Let me know in the comments. Then a nice lady taught us a good dance move: left foot stride, shoulders roll; right foot stride, shoulders roll; left foot stride, shoulders roll; stand on one leg, and tuck in; out very quick, arms in air, left leg astride; slow..slow..a foot from the floor..and bang! your hands on the wood; and up, and legs in; and turn; left foot stride, shoulders roll; right foot stride, shoulders roll; left foot stride, shoulders roll; and all of a sudden, turn and attack move..! Like it? They said they’d give us out a letter in two-three weeks, telling us if we were unsuccessful or if we won to the stage…
