Drama Update 1

I have been doing lots of drama recently – so much, I will probably die of exhaustion after the updates I have done! There is loads for you to read about so, just saying, don’t think you’re reading a quick five-minute post. At all.

Identity Dress Rehearsal

It began yesterday with our dress rehearsal of our home ed drama club called Identity. We were doing Naughty, It’s a Hard-Knock Life, Little People, etc. (read previous posts to find out more). We did it in the real place, on the stage, and I think it went really very well. I did my solo, Naughty, perfectly (well, that’s kind of clearly what the audience thought, not to boast), and each and every other song we did went mainly even better than I thought it would. But I will tell you more about that on the real Saturday of Amazement.

Peter Pan Rehearsal

Last night after our dress rehearsal for Identity, I had my first rehearsal for Peter Pan, which I’m going to be in in the theatre in July. On the last Identity dress rehearsal, Tilly was there, too, but this rehearsal was the one I had properly auditioned for a couple of weeks ago (again, read previous posts to find out more) and did by myself. This time, it wasn’t home-education rehearsals; it was with schoolchildren, which (please, no offence) seemed different, though I don’t know why. There wasn’t anything wrong with the children, if that’s what you’re thinking – nay, never would you think such a thing – would you? It was, I suppose, just because I’m used to home-ed kids. But, even it had been home-ed kids, it still wasn’t as good as I expected. They brought in the dance coach, even, and literally, pinkie-promise, the only dance moves they did were ‘walk on the stage and walk off again.’ No, actually, they were. I hope it is better next week!

X-Factor Rehearsal

Today was the first of two days of six-hour drama! I came there at 10am and then Mummy came to pick me up at 4pm. For all the children there, it was like a more-fun version of school in the holidays, but for me, after two or three o’clock, it was, “I want my Mummy now and I miss my home and my own lunch. It reminds me of school, and all of these people that used to go to my school bring back flashbacks of the evilness there. My legs are aching and I’ve had enough. Who are these people, anyway? They’re not like home-educated friends of mine. But they find it so relaxing, so fun, they don’t care about their mums, the people surrounding them, their aching legs (well, on that account it’s different), flashbacks of anything. It’s so strange – school lasts for at least seven hours, and that’s every day. It must be horrible!”.

We’re doing the proper show tomorrow night, and we’re pretending to be the judges on Strictly Come Dancing, and we’re judging the audience (wink wink)! Keith, the instructor, says we should say things like, “Well, those lot in the back row there weren’t smiling enough. Hey, you, what’s your least favourite song? Ye what? Come up here!”

“Umm…it’s called “Call me Maybe.”

“Everybody! Torture this young man! Play it on repeat for seven minutes. Ooh, wait for me to get out of the room a sec – sorry, I hate this song too, it’s understandable – let me out! No, not yet!”

I’ll talk about the proper show in more detail, though. Goodbye for now!
