My 11th Birthday!

On Wednesday, it was my birthday! Tilly went to volunteer at the nursery for a couple of hours in the morning, so I had to unwrap all my presents before she had to go at nine. From Mummy and Andy I got some hair crimpers, a really nice mini backpack, a ‘Bunny Suicides’ book and a blue rose-patterned pencil pot for all my pens and pencils. I also got a cake-pop making set and a fitness watch called a Mii Band! A Mii Band is a sort of watch that you wear on your wrist which tells you the time, your heart rate, your steps and how much sleep you’ve had, and you can set it a target of 10,000 steps or whatever you want your target to be, and it’ll vibrate and buzz you if you haven’t done enough!

From Nanny I got a box of Thorntons chocolates and from Auntie Beci another ‘Ferrero Roche’ box! Nanny Trish and Grandad Mal bought me a handwriting copybook where it has a poem in nice italic handwriting and lines underneath for you to copy that handwriting so you practise getting really good at cursive handwriting. Out of all my presents I think I like this one the best!

In the morning after opening my presents, I had a shower and got ready because later on I was going to have an 80s party in a hired hall! I had some time to write my story and practise my handwriting before Mummy and I went to the shop to get some party food. Tilly and I had to wear really ugly, weird outfits, and I wore a strange leopard-print neon shirt and had my hair crimped with my crimpers! Tilly wore a white tutu, Mummy’s black lacy top and bright pink leggings! Because Tilly has naturally 80s hair we didn’t have to do much to her (wink wink)!

At the party, I had made an 80s playlist that we danced along to. I had had to cull it from five and a half hours to two and a half hours, and I had to make some hard choices because I love so many 80s songs! To give you a taste of what my party was like, here are some of the songs that we played: Toy Boy by Sinitta, Don’t Stop Believin’ by Journey, Buffalo Stance by Neneh Cherry, It’s Tricky by Run DMC and even Love Really Hurts Without You by Billy Ocean! We also had some other songs that we listen to all the time by artists like The Cure and Fleetwood Mac.

Andy had set up the disco lights and the disco mirror ball, and we also had a strobe light which we had to turn off half way through because it was a bit much! Mummy had made a banner saying ‘Happy 11th Lavinia’ in a neon style which was strung up on the wall! We did lots of dancing and also a few party games like ‘Musical Bumps’. We had the party food Mummy and I had bought earlier and then my cake was brought out and everyone sang ‘Happy Birthday’ (this time Mummy didn’t put her elbow in the cake like she did at Tilly’s thirteenth birthday)! I’ve never had a proper party with a hired hall and stuff before, and personally I think it went quite well! I think all my friends enjoyed it and also because I’m home-educated (and all my friends are) I got to have it at three o’clock in the afternoon before everyone got too tired!

After my party, Dommy and Chia came round to our house for a little while and we ate even more cake! We used Mummy’s phone to make a sort of soap opera film which was really fun – they only went home at eight o’clock! I was really sad for them to leave though because I like playing with them so much!

I got some extra presents from the friends that came to my party. There was a little bar of homemade soap from Gracie with a little wooden dish for it to go on, which has a really nice scent. From Elise I got a pin board for photographs and things as well as a lucky-charm bracelet making thing, which I am very excited to do! I got a really posh FatFace bag and purse from Myrren and Jasper. From Lucia, Dominique, Elodie and Rafey I got T-shirt that says something like ‘I’m a writer: whatever you say or do may end up in my novel’ which I am going to wear today (the next day)!

Now that I’m eleven I’m going to write new lists of New Year’s Resolutions and update my About Me page as I do every year – so make sure you read it! Now that I’ve got a whole year of being eleven I’m going to do so much stuff before I’m twelve!
