18 – 24 December 2017
Monday
On Monday, we were saved from completing our Latin because our new friends Dominic and Nathaniel had a power cut at their house and they had no working heating or kettles (not to mention Christmas tree lights), so they came round to ours for lunch! Dominic is about to turn eight and Nathaniel is eleven (and so am I now)! We started a game of Junior Monopoly, but then lunch was ready so we had to eat that, tidy away the game, and go to our swimming lessons. Because they were the last until next year, we had half an hour of hard core swimming (we were doing a fitness track, so we did 24 lengths in the space of fifteen minutes – some of the people who had only just moved up from the middle group to the top one could only do about 15, but it’s still pretty good!) and the other half hour playing with the floats and racing and things. It was so fun!
Tuesday
On Tuesday this week, we had a staying-in, fun-working day. I spent some of the morning writing my song on the keyboard (when it is finished I will add it on here so you can see it and even play it youself if you can – if I make anymore I am thinking of making a new tab for my keyboard works of art!) which is really fun. The rest we spent in bed learning about the Paleolithic, Mesolithic and Neolithic periods in history on our new website, Study.com, the most organised and fun website ever, as well as watching Robert Winston’s amazing documentary Walking with Cavemen. In the afternoon we went round the block and spent the rest making a lapbook on what we’d learnt about the Stone Age periods, which we’re hoping to get done by Christmas! On the fitness watches, or Mii bands, that we both got for our birthdays, it tracks your steps, so Tilly and I have been racing each other to see who can get the most steps! At the moment, six p.m., Tilly’s got five thousand and three hundred and I’ve got four thousand, seven hundred and forty, which is surprising judging how long we spent in bed and on the sofa! Overall, today was really, really fun!
Wednesday
On Wednesday this week, we made a page for our lapbooks on prehistory. It was all about southern apes and how they evolved to become us; I find history very interesting so I enjoyed it, but I’m not too sure William did 😉 We also watched a documentary called ‘Walking with Cavemen’ which I very much enjoyed; the host, Robert Winston, was very engaging. On Christmas Eve we’re going to have a giant spelling test, so we’ve been practising (with an “s” – that’s in our test!!) a lot!
Thursday
On the next day, Thursday, I was excited our friends Dominique and Lucia would come round, but they had relatives from America round for Christmas and stuff, so they didn’t come. We spent the rest of the day doing another caveman page for our lapbooks and PRACTISING WITH AN “S” our spelling test.
Friday
On Friday, Tilly woke up poorly so she didn’t come to drama. However, I very much wanted to go so I went in Little Matilda’s car with her mum Nicola and her brothers Seth and Arthur. It’s the last week until next year, so we completed a lot of dances and solos and stuff. When I got back, I wrote my story a lot and messed around a bit for the afternoon. Mummy had cooked spaghetti bolognaise but it was going to take too long, so we put it in the fridge until tomorrow and we had spicy bean wraps instead 😉
Saturday
On Saturday this week, we extra-specially-properly practised for our spelling test and played on the Wii computer a lot. William unlocked the “Island View” activity for cycling and was on it for 54 minutes! He got all the way to the very-nearly end and got stuck on four flags, unable to find them! So at the end when it showed how many calories he’d burnt etc., and it said ‘Maybe you should take a break from exercising on the Wii today. You’ve taken 54 minutes for just this activity!’ But William kept going 😉 We also had our spaghetti bolognaise, which was delicious!
Sunday
It’s Sunday now, and it’s CHRISTMAS EVE! I am very excited about tomorrow! We also had our Christmas Eve spelling test, which surprisingly I actually really enjoyed! Mummy had added in a load of really tricky words that we hadn’t practised like ‘graffiti’ and ‘playwright’ and ‘harassment’ after ’embarrassment’, but I got 88 percent and we did so well Andy got us all a box of chocolates! We spent the rest of the day playing ‘A-Z name games’ and ‘Charades for Kids’ (which is a little more young than we remembered it to be). We watched a Christmas film called ‘Scrooged’ which starred Bill Murray, one of my favourite actors! We all thought it was absolutely hilarious; we could tell from the beginning it was going to be very good, and it proved to be just so! Murray was bascially Scrooge, and the film was basically A Christmas Carol, except there was a lot more bloody gore (in a funny way) and better jokes than most films!
Now we’ve just watched our videos from Santa Claus! They were so fun and exciting to watch! We all got put on the Nice List and Santa picked really funny photographs off us to show! The elves looked so busy and happy and excited I’ve decided that’s going to be my adult career 😉
