CHRISTMAS 2017!!!!!!

Today was Christmas! In the morning, William and I got up and went downstairs to find so many presents, including many from Santa and a letter from him! He had colour-coded our presents by wrapping mine in silver, starry paper, William’s in ‘Merry Christmas’ paper, Tilly’s in penguin paper, and joint presents to us all in red – presumably to save the use of gift tags for some reason!

We opened one present each before Mummy went to pick up Nanny. They were all from Santa; William’s was a black T-shirt that on the front says ‘Wanna See My Ninja?’, and then if you lift it up over your head on the underneath it has a ninja face that goes over your face! Tilly got an ‘infinite cube’ which was basically a fiddle toy where it goes on infinitely, over and under, through and beside. And do you know what I got? About ten or twenty pairs of pants! It was a bit strange, but then I remembered when we were shopping and Mummy knew I needed some more pants, and when we went to get some, the nicest pairs I liked weren’t on offer so we got some other ones. And then I noticed that Santa had got me the pants that weren’t on offer! It was very strange…

When Nanny got here, we opened all our other presents. I got a replica of Mr Bean’s teddy bear (random, but one of my favourite presents!) who I named Beany; a colouring book from Santa called ‘404 Not Found’ because he knows how much time I spend on my laptop (wink wink); a lamp where you put in fake jellyfish and fill it up with water and it becomes a sort of jellyfish version of a lavalamp (we’re still trying to get it to work now, but the instructions said it might take a while); and a load of other stuff! Santa also gave us some presents to share; one was a game like Trivial Pursuit but was music questions instead, which we’ve played and which was really fun; and also a Sherlock Holmes game a little like the original Cluedo. From Nanny Trish and Grandad Mal we got a game called ‘Carcassonne’, which we haven’t played yet but looks really exciting!

Andy had made a “Lucky Dip”, which is basically a big box covered in wrapping paper saying, ‘Are you feeling LUCKY?’ and you have to put your hand in and hope for something good! At one time I got a minuscule (that was from my spelling test too!) microscope in a little black leather case, and then at another time I got a kitchen peg because Andy had put in some booby prizes. Tilly got some oatcakes 😉

After we’d opened our presents, we had lunch (we had shloer for the first time in our lives, too!) and chocolate tiffin for pudding.

We played our music game afterwards, which was really, really fun! We noticed that William was burping and gurgling a bit the way through, and then when it finished he said he felt really ill and had to lie on the sofa with a blanket 🙁 We watched an episode of The Simpsons, which we thought might take his mind off it and make him feel a bit better, but it didn’t, and while we played the family tradition Christmas poker he lay on the sofa by himself. When we finished Mummy and I went upstairs briefly but were soon called back down by Tilly, saying that William had vomited all over the lounge quite suddenly! His words when he had finished were, in a very hoarse, sad voice, “Why couldn’t it be some other day?” I feel really sorry for him now! Not as much, of course, but I also feel quite sorry for our lovely purple rug, which now has to go in the bin! And the carpet is now smelly and we can’t go in the lounge :/

We are now about to have our family tradition Christmas curry, which is in the oven and ready to be eaten, though sadly, not by William 🙁 Although he says he feels totally fine now! Then we will have a Christmas disco but we’ll have to do it in the kitchen because the lounge smells of sick!
