** spoiler alert ** Jess Aarons has one ambition: to be the fastest runner in Fifth Grade. His main target is to beat Garry Fulcher, the fastest last year, but on the day of the race, a new girl, Leslie Burke, outruns them all, surprising not only Fulcher but Jess himself. And although Jess tries to ignore her at first, the two soon become amazing friends, and together they create their own kingdom: Terabithia.
But one day, something so dreadful happens that it will change Jess’ life forever…
… And will also end Leslie’s.
I didn’t really enjoy this book very much because the author didn’t seem to draw you to the characters at all. Therefore I didn’t really care much for Leslie or Jess, and when Paterson tried to make you hate Janice Avery, my opinion on her didn’t really change, and then when she became almost the good guy, it didn’t budge either. So when Leslie passed away I didn’t really care, and I didn’t really care for Jess either. The story didn’t seem to come to life as well as others I have read do, and I don’t think I will be reading it again any time soon.
