Miss Stella Saxby of Saxby Hall awakes one morning to find that she cannot move her body. Very confused, she sees the dawn sun breaking down through the window, and dancing about the big room. It played on the keyhole of the door. Suddenly, a black, piercing eye flashed at the hole. It saw clearly Stella’s own looking back at it, scared. The white of the eye turned and it was invisible once more. Then in came the poor girl’s miserable, witchy aunt, Aunt Alberta. She was carrying her evil owl, Wagner, who was perched, squawking, on her left arm. She said to Stella, “You have been in a coma for over a month, because all your bones are shattered and broken. Your mummy and daddy-waddy are all poor and dead. I grieved and grieved,” the cruel woman added as a lie. The poor girl was mortified. As she peered down under he blankets, she saw that her body was entirely draped and wrapped in a huge bundle of bandages. She looked just like a mummy. Aunt Alberta cackled most evilly, and left the room, locking it.

Join Stella and the chimney-sweep ghost Soot on their adventures as the aunt tries to get Stella to sign the deeds, and so she might rule over Saxby Hall and have it for herself. As you’d expect, Stella is adamant that she shall not, so Alberta goes into the ways of torture. Join them by reading it now…
