Everywhere that I’ve read, people and critics alike are saying that The X-Files‘ ninth season was its worst. And I just can’t understand that. Season 9 has been one of my absolute favourite seasons so far! Mulder was abducted in the beginning of Season 8 and only returned briefly in the finale, at which point he disappeared again and didn’t appear until the last episode of Season 9, which of course is a massive drawback of the show. If anything, though, it was nice to get a break from Mulder’s character. Don’t get me wrong, The X-Files would be nothing without him, but I felt that, as a viewer, I was able to understand Scully’s character and those of Agents Doggett and Reyes better without Mulder there interfering. Every single episode was really exciting and, if nothing else, it was nice to have a break from aliens for a while and get onto some actual murder, crime, hostage-taking and the rest of it. This season absolutely deserves 5 stars out of 5, and I regret nothing!
