Tuesday
Nothing much happened yesterday apart from revising and swimming. This morning we drove to Letchworth for my 9am physics paper, which is the second and final paper in my entire GSCE. You can read about how it went here.
We came back at about noon, and promptly began watching Criminal Minds episode after Criminal Minds episode! I’m going to take the next few days off from all studying (excluding my instrument practice which I have been sorely neglecting over the last few weeks!). Criminal Minds has been my much needed, cheesy Hollywood refuge every night recently after physics. It has some very cringey moments and awful acoustic love songs are guaranteed at the end of each episode, but its good moments override the poor ones and I’m actually off to go and watch some more now.
Wednesday
I spent all of today either watching Criminal Minds, playing piano or violin or making these cool little string bracelets while listening to Serial. Serial is a true crime podcast narrated by the very engaging journalist Sarah Koenig. The first series is about the murder of Hae Min Lee, a high school student whose ex-boyfriend Adnan was arrested for her death, perhaps wrongly, perhaps not – Koenig seeks to find this out for herself and share her journey and discoveries in Serial.
Thursday – Sunday
Over the week, I’ve just been relaxing on the sofa not doing much! I’ll probably get back to work on Monday but for the meantime, we’ve been watching Criminal Minds and also a new documentary we started with Tilly – The Killing of James Bulger. I heard about this case in passing when I was much younger but didn’t think about it again until we found this programme. Of all the crimes I’ve ever heard about I think this one is the most tragic and saddening, perhaps because I have some relatives who were James Bulger’s age, like my cousin Sebby or my half-brothers, and I can’t imagine how I would feel if anything like that happened to them.
On the brighter side, we’ve been consistently eating mince pies and ice cream for breakfast because we’re home educated and physics is over and we can. 😁 William came round on Friday and he’s been joining in with the celebratory day-long TV-watching too.
On Sunday I finished the first season of Serial. You can read my review of it here. I started the next season, which is about Bowe Bergdahl, an American soldier who was held captive in Afghanistan by the Taliban for five years after deserting his post in 2009.
