About Me 2022

Hello everyone! Welcome to my blog. I’m Lavinia and I’m fifteen years old. I’ve been home educated since I was four, and I’ve absolutely loved every minute of it! Coronavirus has put a lot of things on hold recently, but we’ve made up for our gap in home-ed trips by doing loads of fun stuff at home. Throughout 2021 I did a lot of cooking with my mum, went on walks every day exploring our area, reached Grade 5 piano and even started learning the violin.

My current interests are what they’ve always been: reading, writing and drawing! I love the Jeeves & Wooster series by P.G. Wodehouse, and the works of Ray Bradbury too. My all time favourite series would have to be the Night trilogy by Holocaust survivor Elie Wiesel.

My music tastes are very diverse, but at the moment I’m in the middle of a Skunk Anansie, Elvis Costello and Amy Winehouse phase! My favourite genres are probably punk and rock, with the exception of my bizarre 50’s R&B and soul obsession!

Last November, I sat my physics GCSE (I’ll get my results in February). You can read about that in a few posts on this site. Earlier in 2021, I sat the Level 1 Latin paper. This year, I’m sitting my Biology and Latin GCSEs (the Level 1 paper doesn’t count as a real GCSE anymore!) in the summer. I’m quite nervous but I think I should do OK!

When I’m older, I desperately want to go to a university in America. My shortlist at the moment includes Hillsdale College in Michigan, UATX in Austin, Texas (this one hasn’t actually been built yet, but will be by the time I might apply!), and St John’s College, which has two campuses in Santa Fe and Annapolis. If I were at one of these colleges now, I’d probably major in English literature and minor in something like psychology, politics or journalism. The American system works that way, with majoring and minoring rather than taking just one degree subject.

Here are some pictures of me with my family, and some of the art I’ve done recently. Don’t forget to look at the captions on the bottom of each picture!
