Update: what I’ve been up to these last few weeks

I haven’t been posting on my blog as much as usual in the last couple of weeks, and that’s because I’ve just been very busy. I am sitting numerous sixth form scholarship exams in the coming weeks which I’ve been studying for nonstop, and have been juggling work and clubs at the same time. Specifically, I have exams in Latin, philosophy, English, and maths coming up, and interviews in all of those and politics too, so my time has been completely consumed with preparation for them.

I’ve been focusing on Latin for the most part, because I felt that a lot of my grammar was very rusty. In the past two and a bit weeks, I’ve worked through both volumes of the OCR Latin to GCSE textbooks from the beginning, doing all the exercises and passages and everything, which as you can imagine has taken up an awful lot of my time. I’m still prioritising my other scholarship subjects though: I’ve been working through Philosophy: The Classics by Nigel Warburton, a guide to some of the most famous philosophical works over the centuries; I’ve also been doing some English essays and poetry analyses; and I’ve been keeping up with my piano practice, pottery volunteering and tutoring work (although I’ve had to take some time off here and there to focus on my studies!). I’ve also been going to my acting lessons on Saturday mornings – recently we’ve been working on verbatim theatre, improvisation, and various projects on the theme of mobile phones and social media, and their effect on modern society.

When all these exams and interviews are done with, I will be posting more frequently again. Of course, I am a bit terrified about all this, so wish me luck! 🤞

(I spend most of whatever free time I can spare drawing while watching the news! So here are a couple of my sketches, with a random self-portrait thrown in there too.)
