St. George’s Day Celebration (Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorers)

Today, just 15 minutes ago, we went on a St. George's day celebration. William and Tilly went there as well and they have written about it too.

First I went into the queue of a pitch black cave. The man gave me a small black torch and I crawled in. Then a saw some arrows. I went straight on, my torch brightening the air. Left, said one. Forwards, said the other. Right…'Huh?' I thought, 'where on earth do I go now?' And I looked – a narrow, hard-to-notice arrow pointed…'up?' I thought, so surprisingly I almost said it aloud. I climbed up, noticing a sharp corner infront of me. I turned it.."Owch!" I said, scraping my back against the ceiling of the plastic cave. "Oooh, what's going on, it's kinda shrinking! Hey, you guys infront what is happening?!" Then it happened again. I noticed that there was high circular bumps on he floor, squishing me up to the ceiling. I finally came out the other end, seeing something long and quite wet infront of me. "Whoa!" I cried, and I found myself sitting on the bottom of a slide…Aaa…"OW!" Someone crashed into me, not looking where they were going :(.

Next I found Emmy (my best friend at Beavers) in the queue of the climbing frame. I ran in, just a few spaces from her. Kapow! She was really quick at putting her harnest on, and she shot up like a monkey! 'Beep, beepity beep beep!' Her buttton went off, as she pressed it and bounced down. She waited for me.

FIVE CHILDREN LATER. PLUS, I'M TOO EXCITED TO MOVE!

I bounced up like Emmy, pressed the button and bounced back down. "So, how high was that, Badger?" I asked, using my hand as a sunshade over my head. "Well," he said, smiling proudly, "7 metres, that is, Lavinia sweetheart." He grinned even more, and I almost died. I followed Emmy to the inflatable bouncy-castles.

Me and Emmy queued up for a Pull-ya-backwards! castle. We had to have rope tied to the back of our backs so that we couldn't move very far. It had two sides. On the wall where it joined up there was a sticky bit. We had a bean-bag with a sticky bit on too, and we ran as fast as we could and tried to stick it onto the sticky bit on the wall. But, even if you had stuck it on or not, it would boomerang you back, but if you fall backwards and bump, you'll bump all you like on a bit of bouncy pillowy stuffy puffy poof. Ie stuffy puff. Ie. Yes, lets get out of that. Poof.

THE NEXT RIDE. OF SLIPPERYNESS.

Right. The next ride was a bouncy castle. It had two holes where me and William, me and Tilly and me and Emmy raced. It was very slippery and it had a teeny dot of wet on the floor. But the steps were as narrow and slippery as anything could be for racing! I won every single time. The slide was amazing, and I did three roly-pollies down it. Plop, roll, plop, roll, plop, roll. "Owchee, I just hit the grass – oh no, concreet! Owch, a stone got in my t-shirt. Poofeeee!"

THE TAPEMEASURE OF LIFE. AAAA…AAAAAAGGGGGGH! I'M FALLING OUT OF THE SKY! OH. I SEE I HAVE LANDED ON SOME SOFT MOSSY GRASS. AAA…

There was a tapemeasure in the woods. In fact, two. No, three. At first, you climbed up and held onto a tapemeasure above you and then you put your feet on one below. When you had got to the end of that, you had to balance (if you wanted you could hold the man's hand) and walk steadily along one tapemeasure. If you fell off you started again.

At the end Mummy and Andy came to watch us do a parade. We had to sing some songs, renew our promises and all that nonsence. Bleerrr…

GOODBYE, AUDIENCE!
