Batiks (A cheating way..).

Yesterday, me, Tilly and Mummy did a special art picture called a batik. We did a little bit of a shortcut, though, because most batiks are made of material, and we used paper.

We made it look like it was material by scetching our picture really lightly and colouring it in with wax really hard, then we screwed our marvellous picture up three times and unrolled it….

Then, we covered it in black shoe polish. Then we dampened a cloth and wiped all the shoe polish off, but it was still in the creases which made it look like material. Clever, eh?

My picture was of a snowy owl on a branch in front of a sunset. I did a snowy owl instead of a fox or something because I'm doing a project on the Arctic. Tilly's doing one of the Antarctic.
