Carnival Day

We thought the Carnival was going to be tomorrow, and then we were going on holiday, so we didn’t think we’d be able to go, but it turned out to be today! We went in the shower and washed our hair, and then Mummy straightened and blow-dried mine, and put Tilly’s in long plaits, and then we went down to the Carnival while Mummy got ready. We saw Tilly’s friend Louise and another friend of ours called Eleanor. We also met up with Nanny and then she and Andy joined us there.

We saw Ben Savage, the world champion of BMX biking! He was doing all kinds of stunts like jumping over poles and off vans and that sort of thing, on his BMX bike! One time, Ben got the commentator to lie just next to the side of the van, his head against it, his legs out wide, and jumped off on his bike, nearly hit him on his way down through the air, and landed between the commentator’s ankles! He also jumped over a pole height of 1.31 metres in the air, bouncing on his BMX!

We saw the dog show too, where they got Mummy to line up, bend down, put her head to the side of the woman in front of her’s side, and wait – and she didn’t know what was going to happen! Too bad Mummy thinks dogs are smelly and would do anything to get away from them! They got the bigger dogs – labradors, collies, and big shaggy retrievers – to go underneath the people’s open legs, and the smaller ones – the dachshund puppy, and the small spaniel puppy – to go after their backs! Then, as a small dog went over, the commentator yelled through the microphone, “And here comes the dog who is prone to pee!” and he came along with his waterbottle and squirted with warm water over the backs of the people as the dog went over. Of course, Mummy had her head next to the person in front’s side, so she couldn’t see, and came back shouting, “Oh! Oh, he peed on me! Urgh, am I yellow on my nice white jumper?” and we were like, “No, Mummy, he just had a water bottle with him!”

We went on a ride called Waltzer with Eleanor, and we screamed, “Faster! Whooo! Faster!” as loud and shrill as we could, and the man came and yelled, “Faster? Oh, couldn’t spin yer faster!” and he took hold of our cart and thrust round in circles!

After, we saw more BMX-ing and Dog stuff, and I got trampled on my a big shaggy collie in my nice dress! But he didn’t mean it, and the owner was very sorry. I was going to go on the donkeys, but they were packing away! 🙁 Then we went home.
