CIRCUS!….or is it?

We tricked William into thinking that we were going to church, as Andy has been ordained the priest of The Church of the Latterday Dude! I know, it has a weird name and just a normal man like Andy being ordained a priest is slightly strange, but it is true! But actually, we were going to go to the circus! William clearly fooled for the trick for a whole day and the rest of the day before we went to the circus, which was quite funny.

But first, Tilly, Mummy and I went to the carboot sale in the morning. I bought lots of things, but my three favourites were a little velvet, lavender coloured notepad with a dragonfly on it made of beads, a bunch of pretty little sequiny butterflies that I am going to have scattered on the table on my birthday and last of all, a Tattoo Artist Sketch Portfolio. On my tattoo thingy, there are sketches of bald people and that sort of thing so that I can draw the hair and clothes on them (don’t worry, it doesn’t show those parts you’re thinking of)… It also has lots and lots of stencils so that I can sketch them onto the people as tattoos. In the notepad (which was probably my favourite) I have started to copy Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone into it. It is very fun and probably is good for my handwriting. The butterflies aren’t just papery and horrible, they are made of wire and then sparkly net is put over them. Then comes the little gems and sequins, which I think are very pretty.

Then we went down to a great big shop called Costco for lunch. It is a very interesting shop as nearly every time we go there (and this never happens in any other shop) Mummy buys us either a delicious lunch or a scrumptious ice cream. Plus, Costco has a whole book section the size of a very miniture library, so William, Tilly and I also go there and read amazing books. We found one all about Harry Potter there – how they filmed the characters, what the actress’ and actors’ names are – and they have a huge open-out page full of every single character in the films and books! My favourite characters are a cross between Ginny and Hermione. Also, Hermione is my favourite name (pronnounced Her-mion-e)!

For lunch William had a hotdog, Tilly had a cheesy pizza, Mummy had what Andy had (which was a pepperoni pizza) and I had jacket potato. You get to choose the toppings on the potatoes, so I had baked beans and cheese. It was very tasty – I give it 8 out of 10! In the book section, I found an awesome colouring book which I really, really, really want for my birthday, but Tilly has the same one, so I probably won’t get it 🙁

Now it was time for…

A walk by the lake! I know, we did have to wait a lot for the circus, but all the things we did when we were waiting were fun, so it wasn’t too bad. At the lake, I saw a little summer house and me and Tilly pretended to be Roman ladies. Do you know how to do that? Well, we lounged on our sides on the black painted benches, propped up on our left elbows. Then we would lean down over the bench and pretend to pick up food and wine and eat and drink it all. Of course, you have to do that with your right hand, as that is what the Roman ladies did!

We also saw some ducks and swans and seagulls. I do not like seagulls very much – they are pretty, but the seagulls we saw crowded around us, hoping we’d throw food to the ducks where those mean little gulls could swoop in and steal all the food! Apparently, swans aren’t the nicest animals in the world either; they attack humans for no reason! Or, of course, they would definitely attack humans when the human accidentally stepped on its foot or plucked out one of its white feathers!

***First Person Story Time!***

Then we got to travel to the circus! I was so excited, bouncing up and down all the way! The unfortunate thing was, I couldn’t be too happy, as William still thought we were going to the church, and if I got too excited, he would get too suspicious. So I kept bouncing (just not too much) until we reached the car, where we hurried in and did up our seatbelts, me and Tilly giggling like mad.

“I am so excited about the church!” I squealed, laughing. Then the car reversed from our parking space and we drove down about eight roads and turned into a big field.

“Quiet in the back, please,” Andy said. We still couldn’t stop giggling, but we tried not to talk.

“I think we are going to the circus,” William whispered to me and Tilly. Sure enough, a huge red and yellow striped tent was parked next to our car, and a huge lorry in front of it was marked ‘Circus Starr’. And yes, that is how you spell it. We hurriedly climbed out of the car and queued up for about a minute before heading in and staring all around us.

The whole room was like a huge big octagon or hexagon, and it was pitch black apart from a few coloured light bulbs hung up at every corner. We could hear the laughing talks of people in the audience and could just make out a set of velvet, black stairs leading up to the little cushioned benches. It took a long time to find any seats, as this stupid woman wouldn’t budge over and was very mean to poor Mummy!

“Excuse, me? Can we sit there?”

“No! You can fully well see that if someone else is sitting somewhere you cannot sit right next to them!”

“Ah, but you see, ma’am, there is more than enough space for somebody else to sit next to that someone! My children here are quite skinny, and I am sure you can see that they would fit.”

“Listen, this boy’s mother is sitting here, so you can clearly see that there isn’t enough room for your children!”

So eventually we tried to get a different seat, especially because that woman kept swearing and saying words Mummy didn’t want us to hear, which meant we had to keep on swapping because William wanted to sit next to Andy, and then I had to have a cuddle with Mummy, and then Tilly wanted to sit with Andy and Mummy too and so on. But Mummy made that woman move over 😉 Plus, that woman’s boy had a glowing prapella thingy which got stuck first in my and then in Tilly’s hair, causing about three whole locks to be ripped right in half! That meant that Tilly, Andy, Mummy and me had to squish all up together and accidentally let William be hit in the head with the prapella!

But apart from that, the circus was indeed absolutely brilliant! My favourite act was by far Victoria the contortionist, who was about twenty feet on a rope in the air! She even managed to tie her foot around the rope so that we didn’t notice and then put her right leg out straight in pike and her left leg pressed up against her straight back! I THOUGHT SHE WAS SO AWESOME!!!!! WHEN I AM OLDER I WILL EITHER BE AN ACTRESS OR, HOPEFULLY, A CONTORTIONIST LIKE VICTORIA IN A CIRCUS!

It was so great! There was another act where a beautiful blonde lady went up about twenty feet in the air in a glass ball and then did acrobatics in it! She did bridge, she did crab, she even did the splits up the curved side of the ball! Then she dilebriately opened the ball and hung by it by her feet! They were playing ‘Let It Go’ really loudly which really annoyed Andy, William and Tilly!

There were also two brothers from Kazakhstan who slid up and down metal poles about twenty-five feet in the air! They shot up them doing acrobatics, like swinging their feet over their heads continuously until they were at the top of the poles! Then they slid down them headfirst in about three seconds! It was awesome!

Then came The Kenyan Warriors. One of them was so strong – there were about six of them not including him and he lifted them all up at the same time where they hung off him at odd angles…and then he spun around really fast! There was one was really good at Limboing, and did it under a pole about two feet off the ground which was on fire! They were doing rollypollies and cartwheeling through hoops, which was really cool! I know how hard it is at gym just to lie down, have someone leaning on you and then someone standing on their knees – but they did that with people standing on heads and shoulders and cartwheeling INTO IT!

There were also some pretty cool Mexican ladies called Georgina and Henrietta. They had sparkly leotards and were very flexible. But the main thing was that they were experts at balancing! First, one of them hulahooped with an ON FIRE hulahoop while balancing on an inflatable ball! It was pretty cool. Then they both went up high ramps ON THE BALLS and then came back down ON THE BALLS BACKWARDS! It was sooooooooo cool!

We’d never been to a circus before, and I think I had a shock!

“WOOOOOOOOOOO!!! GO KENYA! WOOOOOOOOOOO! GO MEXICO! WOOOOOOOOOOOOO! GO THE AMAZING VICTORIA!” I yelled. In fact, I yelled so much my voice was literally hoarse! I couldn’t believe what some people can really do! “GO CIRCUS STARR! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!”

It is true, it is highly recommended. Circus Starr are on Facebook, and you can watch their videos of Victoria and every other amazing act! Go Circus Starr!!
