Cornwall with Daddy

Do you know why I haven’t been on my website for so long? Because I wasn’t home! Do you know why that is? Tilly and I went to Daddy’s house. We stayed there for a couple of days or so and then went on a BIG journey to Cornwall.

When I say BIG journey, I mean 381 miles, which is basically 6 and a half hours! We only had a packet of Pom-Bears and a few other things – but finally, we reached (after about 3 and a half hours) a place where it had food! Chips and crusty peppery things were now in our reach now….Jago kept stealing my chips, seeing how I was sitting next to the little thief, with my chips and crusty peppery ‘things’. They were too peppery for him – luckily, and they were very tasty and I don’t want the thief to have a tasty treat for his naughtiness!

When we got there, we jumbled up our minds into mess – where would we put our things?

I know where! I know where!

Hand up, Heidi.

Okay, I’ve got my hand up, I know now!

Well then, where did we put them?

You put your suitcase underneath a wooden bit of desk, and the same with some bags. You put food into bags inside cabinets-with-no-doors and into cupboards until you needed them. You put your toothpaste and your toothbrushes in a pot that you once kept in your house. Jago immediately went in his new cot so that he wouldn’t mess up what you were tidying. You put your beaded rings on a bedside-table and put your hairbrush next to Jago’s starry toy. In this way, your hotel room was tidy. Thank you for letting me have my speech.

Yes, Heidi, you’re quite correct. But would the room be tidy in a few days time?

Can I speak?

A bit quieter, please, Darcy. Yes?

Well, in about two days your tidiness began to change and messiness began. All the bad words from tidiness came into the air – messiness, searching, forgetness, losing things – when the air slammed down before the most bad words of tidiness came – not being able to tidy up. Your hairbrush magically appeared in the bathroom –

That’s enough, Darcy, you’re going so far that you are riding into Greece. Yes, Harvey? Oh yes, there’s five Harveys and half of them have their hands up – umm, Harvey Christian Anderson?

Actually, I’ve forgotton now, Miss Tiff, why don’t you try Harvey Moo-face?

Enough, boy, student – whatever. I think we better get on with this or Lily Tiff (my daughter) won’t get to watch Frozen, as there won’t be time. Well, come on, let us speak.

(Psst! It’s me, Harvey Christian Anderson. It’s going onto a different teacher…who will it be…oh, look! It’s Mr Tiff! Now he’s a stern one – ooh, he’s looking at me – shh)!

It was nice to have a little brother around (Jago). He had cute curly hair and he almost never screamed. He didn’t have afternoon naps for once (he slept in the car lots, though) and was a big happy-chappy considering there was not much sleep in that week. He was being an energised baby who wanted to stay up late running about and squealing and squeaking like a squeaky-clean wipe that has a big laughing smile spread across its face to its ears.

Another thing we did while we were there was visit lots of the family. The first person we met was Nanny, Daddy’s mum.

Nanny had lots of old, china plates on her walls with pictures of birds on them. They were very intricate and beautiful. Maybe Daddy recognised them from when he was younger – you know, actually using them for special occasions! Maybe they weren’t too posh for Nanny, maybe they used them for an ordinary cheese sandwich lunch! Anyway, Nanny also had many, plenty, a lot of pictures of me and Tilly and Jasper and Poppy (Jasper and Poppy are our half brother and half sister). Nanny was really kind and she bought us some pretty clothes. She had a cat called Millie. She was a beautiful cat with different shades of brown stripes and pretty, emerald-green eyes. I left my cuddly-toy Ben there, and I was worried Millie might eat him! I had to sleep without him for a night, and before I couldn’t get to sleep without him – but I’m brave and I can!

The next person we saw (skipping a lot of times where we met Nanny) was Clifton, Great Uncle Clifton. We met him at Nanny’s house. He was very nice and kind. We also met Great Auntie Dawn. She had yummy jellybeans waiting for us!

Cornwall is by the seaside so of course we had to go to the beach. I was really tired and my eyes started hurting, but as soon as I got to the salty water and the dry sand and was playing ‘who can find the most shells’, I was fine. I guess I wasn’t fine, but I forgot about my eyes and my tiredness. Jago liked the sand a lot too. I went straight to bed when I got back in the hotel, and I was asleep before six o’clock. But I was unfortunately awake when Jago awoke and started screaming the place down!

Daddy bought me and Tilly some new books, soome from Waterstones some from this other shop. I got this writing book from Waterstones called ‘642 Things to Write About’. Tilly got the Minecraft ‘Construction Handbook’. Daddy got me a book from the other shop called ‘Superfudge’ by Judy Blume. I’m already close to finishing it! Tilly got this ‘Middle School – the Worst Days of my Life’ book – which is funny, because she doesn’t go to Middle School, and I don’t think she’ll want to, either 😉 I’ll read it when I’m older, but don’t think I’m going to go there! Anyway, I’ve been reading a lot for the week to make up for the month where I didn’t turn a page!

I really liked the holiday – I suppose it was my ‘Winter Holiday’! My worst bit was the 381 miles journey, and my best was probably Eden Project (I will post about that next). But I suppose it was nice having a fry-up for breakfast too!
