Yesterday, we all drove up to Oxford to drop my sister Tilly off at Magdalen College, where she’s about to start her undergrad degree in English Literature and Language! We were lucky to find a parking space right outside her halls of residence, so taking suitcases and bags upstairs was pretty easy and quick (we enlisted the help of her 6’5″ friend for the heavier stuff!).
Her room was really nice and spacious, with a bed, desk and chair, coffee table and chair, bookshelves, sink and big built-in wardrobe. It was a little dark and depressing at first, but we soon spruced it up with some gold fairy lights and personalised it with photos and some of Tilly’s drawings.
In the afternoon, we had a mooch around Oxford, most of which we spent sampling hot chocolates in Whittard’s. We also went to the beautiful, autumnal Covered Market, where I’m sure Tilly will be spending lots of her time eating baklavas and fresh smoothies. (I’m not at all jealous.)
After meeting some of the lovely people she shares a floor with, we said our goodbyes to Tilly and went on our way. Apparently she had a Sunday roast for dinner that night and her bed is really comfy. I miss her a lot already but I know she’s having a wonderful time and we’ll see her in a few weeks. 😊
