Horrid Henry
1. Dad’s good news
“Everyone! I have got such good news!“ Dad said. Everybody stared at him shouting what was the good news, “shhhh, the good news is only aloud to be heard at special times. And especially not aloud to be heard in front of someone called Henry,“ Dad glared at him, “you know what I mean Henry….“ How could he say that? thought Henry. Everybody glanced round to dad getting into a room and locking the door so Henry couldn’t get in. “Well, the good news is I’m going to be King! The king and Queen let me be it. You can be my servants if you want, I promise I’ll be nice to you!“ Said dad, and everyone cheered and raised. “Of course we want to be your servants, of course!“ But then they heard Henry knocking and banging on the door. When they heard it, they felt cross all over again. They decided they wanted to just stay out of Henry’s way so they just had a little play in the Kitchen. But Peter fell over, and everyone fussed and fussed around the crying little boy. When he had calmed down, they couldn’t hear Henry any more. They silently walked out of the room and walked into the lounge… “Henry! Watching telly! You know the rules about your blooming telly! Why, why have you done this?“ Said Mum. Henry didn’t answer, just stared his eyes at the telly which were super glued there. “Peter, will you please get Henry some water so he can pop his eyes back in his head, please?“ “Of course Mum,“ said Peter, and in 3 seconds he was back. “I’ll go and offer it to him,“ said mum and went up to Henry. Henry took it and drank it. “Yum yum, bakers tum.“ said Henry, knocking at the cup as if it were an egg. “Don’t be rude Henry, you know dad’s told you about 100 times not to do that“ said mum in a very delicate voice.
