Last night it was show time once more! It was so exciting. Lillian, Nanny, Andy and Mummy all came to see us! I couldn’t believe it! There was a huge audience and a massive stage, and everything just seemed so happy-wappy and enjoyable – we were all dumbfounded! In the first few songs we were all kind of nervous about doing them, but as we got more of the hang of it, we found it very fun. I did ‘Naughty’ in front of all those strangers, and I wasn’t self-conscious at all. I think next time I might have the courage to do it without people behind me for half of the song, and maybe I might do it live instead of with a recording.
I thought Lydia was brilliant. She may have been my favourite. Everyone else simply went on, sang, danced, and went off again; but Lydia had a microphone and a guitar and plugs and wires – it must have been pretty nerve-racking! But she didn’t seem to care. She sang it all by herself without a recording and did the music on her guitar by herself, too! She did ‘When Will My Life Begin’ from Tangled. I thought she was really amazing, so, if you’re out there, Lydia, well done!
‘It’s a Hard-Knock Life’ wasn’t the right track, so we did that one later on after ‘Dai O’ – or however you’re meant to spell it – and did a mighty good job of it, too, if I may say so myself. We all remembered the actions and everyone sang without quaking shakes in their voices or anything. It began with pushing and shoving and banging (you’ll see what I mean when you watch a video of it actually happening) and ended in scrubbing and falling and echoing. It was pretty awesome!
‘Little People’ was a success, too. All of them were, I suppose. There was a dramatically long Interval (next time, maybe we could improve by having a shorter one!) with tea and cakes. Tilly and I got such a big and whacking slice of chocolate oreo cake that we decided not to get one each 😉 It was a chocolate cake, as you know, with sugary chocolate icing and a creamy oreo paste in the middle, with an oreo biscuit around the edge. It was so marvellously delicious – but that wasn’t all! We also had some tasty gluten-free biscuits Elise made (for she is gluten-free) and some really nice cupcakes with filling icing Siana gave out for the cast. It was a bit long, but I think now that I know what an ‘Interval’ is, I love it. Lots.
Imogen performed Tomorrow, from Annie. I thought she was very good and enthusiastic and confident. Elise did two, and so did Atlanta. (Andy said that maybe next time we should only be allowed one solo, or otherwise everyone will be wanting two; and that way, the show’ll go on all night. But I don’t really mind who does however many solos. More solos, more songs: that’s the way it works for me.)
I’m really looking forward to the next show, which is going to be a Christmas pantomime. I think Chanel and Connor are such lovely teachers, and they both really ought to keep the drama club going. So, again, if you’re out there, Chanel or Connor, thank you so, so much!
