IntoFilm Awards Ceremony!

Yesterday, Mummy blow-dried and straightened my hair and we all got dressed up because… we were going to the IntoFilm awards ceremony in Leicester Square to see if our film, Don’t Kill Derek won!

We got the train to London just before ten a.m., walked around the art gallery for a bit, then had a delicious lunch in Pret. I had a tomato, avocado and brie toastie, which was delicious! Mummy had the same and Tilly had a tuna cheese melt toastie. Then we set off to find our film-making friends Cameron, Kenzie, Rylie, and Jack. After getting lost a few times, we found them in a huge queue outside the ODEON Luxe cinema which we had somehow walked straight past. Excited (and cold because Mummy told me to take off my coat in case they took pictures of us walking in with our big coats on!), we went in and sat down in this enormous room. It had comfy leather seats where you can put the leg part up and the back part down so you’re lying down! We also had a huge bag of goodies each including popcorn and flipflops (!). Then Radzi Chinyanganya (presenter of Blue Peter and some other things) came on and gave out rewards to all different age categories.

Our age category (12-15, even though at the time I was 10 and Cameron was 18!) had three films: ours, Don’t Kill Derek, some stupid thing called Layla about online grooming, and a really strange thing called The Somewhat Action Packed Sci-Fi Comedy Including War. And then guess who Radzi invited up onto the stage to read out the winner? JASON ISAACS!! And then who did Jason Isaacs call out? “Layla!”

We were really disappointed, but ah well. And guess who else we saw? Only EDDIE REDMAYNE!!! Only DAVID WALLIAMS! Only HUGH BONNEVILLE! Only LILY JAMES! Only THE ACTOR OF SOPHIE IN THE BFG WHOSE NAME I DON’T REMEMBER! And only SO MANY MORE FAMOUS NAMES!

Overall, it was really fun. When everything had finished, we hung around having some free drinks and snacks and then… guess what… we went to Masala Zone! I had a chicken thali, so chicken korma, lentil dal, a popadom, vegetable curry, and another curry the name of which I don’t know. At just past seven we got our train, and were home at eight o’clock, ready to go straight to sleep!
