‘Our Beautiful Planet’ in 3D!

We left the house at about half past eight this morning, which was really overwhelming for us because we never leave that early unless we have a plane flight! Tilly and I only knew that we were going to the cinema to see ‘something’ with my friend Grace and her sisters, so none of us knew what we were going to watch. When we got there, the staff handed out three dimensional glasses, so we had high hopes for whatever it was! I hadn’t been to the cinema for quite a while, which meant that when we entered the big dark room it was really exciting and familiar.

We found some seats at the top made of red leather, and they were really posh! Tilly went to the end of the row with her friend Alex while I sat next to Mummy and Grace. The lights went on and showed the cover slide of a slideshow about Tim Peake, who is a famous astronaut that recently came back to Earth after a mission in space. Now that we had seen that, we knew it was all about outer space. A lady who used to train with Tim Peake came in and did a talk using the slideshow.

She told us all about how the amazing astronaut trained, and what sort of work he had to do. I learnt that up in space you use your muscle and strength, so the people in the rocket had to do two and a half hours of exerizes. Then we warthed a sort of film or movie type thing with the three dimensional glasses. It showed Peake running the London Marathon on a sort of platform, but of course, there was no gravity, so he had to be strapped down to the platform by really hard ropes. Apparently at the end he told the slideshow lady that because the straps and cords on his shoulders were getting his shoulders so sore that within every minute he was getting faster because he wanted the marathon over with! It also showed a sort weight-lifting machine which looked really hard as well. Also, the crew had a strict timetable reported every second of the day!

At the end of the show, we all gathered together our bags and coats, said bye to Alex, and left to go to a lunch out in IKEA with Grace and her sisters. Unfortunately, Eve wasn’t feel very well at all, so she only nibbled some bread and cheese and had warm water as her drink. I had fish and chips, which is what I normally have, and also a cheesecake all to myself! I had never had it before and it was delicious. After our lunch, we went to our swimming lessons nearby, and to my amazement I completely mastered backstroke! Before I had been pretty good at it, but today we kept on practising with just our legs, or one arm, and then the other arm, or with just our arms, or with our legs and clapping with our hands above our stomachs! It was really fun, but exhausting!
