Recently (since the beginning of the new year) we have all been going on nature walks, mainly in the woods. We have only been on two so far, but both were great. The first was in the forest we live near.
The second, the more recent, which we had this weekend, was in Woburn near to the safari park. The walks have been one of our resolutions – one every week. So far we’ve been sticking to it and we hope we will until the end of the year because they’re really fun. Andy has been coming with us too.
We keep spotting all these animals, like deer and horses, not wild horses, of course, because that would be a little more exciting than it sounds! Broken horses that have been put there by man 😉
After buying a posh A4 notebook each, we have started our nature journals. Every time we go a walk, we draw a picture based on the things we’ve seen. I haven’t finished this week’s one, but I nearly have and I’m going to today. It features a red kite – the bird of prey kind – because I saw two on the last walk, one of which was really close to our car and you could see how huge it was.
I really can’t wait for our next walk. I think if I could choose I would probably walk in the woods, because it was a lot more ‘wildlifey’ in terms of insects and plants.
