I had just come hom from Brownies when the phone rang. I thought it could have been one of my friends, and went to pick it up. But it wasn’t any of my friends’ voices. It was a little American voice. I thought it was to do with Andy’s work, but it wasn’t! Guess what it said:
“Hello! This is an elf from the North Pole! Santa has a message for you! If you’d like to talk to him, please press 1. Thank you!”
I was so excited! I hurriedly pressed 1 and a familiar voice came on.
“Hello there! Is that Lavinia? I’d like to talk to you!”
I felt so amazed! It was the actual Santa! I knew it was him from his voice that I’ve heard him use every Christmas when he gives us a video message.
“I would love to inform you that you are on the Nice List! You’ve been a very big girl, and I have to say that I have some really nice presents for those on the Nice List! I just would like you to know that you’ve been bigger and braver than you ever have before! Right, I have to go now, I’m afraid! Bye bye!”
“Bye bye!” I squealed through the receiver.
“And a merry Christmas to you! Ho ho ho!”
“Mummy, Mummy, it was Santa!” I cried. That night I was squealing and squeaking and found it very hard to be tucked into bed without kicking the cover around, laughing! The next day, I wrote a letter to Santa asking if he could ring me again on my birthday and some other questions.

I think that tooth fairies get very busy at Christmas; there are so many teeth to collect, most of which are all rotten, as my tooth fairy says! I have written them letter after letter and know their names, where they live and everything else. They have collected my teeth so far but once a naughty tooth fairy stole my tooth! The fairies had a whole Autumn Court Meeting about it! Last night they took another tooth and two more letters. They are taking an especially long time to reply, but Mummy says that they are probably doing that because they can’t keep up with me I write so many letters!
