Before swimming, my friend Grace came round, and so did her mum. Ruth is very good at science, because she is a doctor, so she has all sorts of degrees in it. Every Monday she comes to tell us all about acids and chemicals and atoms. This particular day, though, she taught us about the acid and the alkali, and we used a PH scale to measure rainwater, vinegar, and all sorts of stuff like that and see if they were acids or alkali. Then we made our own PH scale if the colours didn’t match. It was very fun. We made our own red cabbage indicator – it was a bit smelly, but it worked anyhow!
Then we had our last swimming lesson of the term, where we did breaststroke, front crawl, and so on. Next term, however, we’re going to be doubling the time to one hour each session, and we – I just know it – are going to be racing up and down the lanes like those Olympic swimmers!
After swimming we stayed in as usual, and played some games, but it was so sunny outside that we decided to go to the park with our friends until they kicked us out 😉
