Tilly, Mummy and I went on holiday in Southampton for three days! First, we went mooching around a bit in the city, looking in the shopping centre and that sort of thing, and then we went to try and walk the walls, but they were shut off.
So instead, we went to the hotel to get our coats, and went to see the old Tudor House and the Medieval Merchant’s House. Unfortunately, we didn’t go to the Tudor House, but we went to the other one, and saw all inside it for free! It’s very highly recommended. It had really new-looking, but obviously super old, paintings on the chests, and it seemed pretty awesome!
Later on that day, we went and waited – and waited – for what seemed like hours outside the door on the hotel steps reading our books in the cold! You might be wondering why we did this – drum roll – the answer is: pizza. Yep, we were waiting for a Pizza Hut delivery! It arrived, after a while; and we learnt that next time, you should go down in the middle of the evening a little later. But the pizza was delicious! Plus, in the morning, we got yet more fry-ups!
We also went shopping for hours, a girly and must-do thing to do, and we looked and loads of stuff and played entertaining games where you have to survive in the shops, basically.
We had a delicious lunch and dinner, and then, once we had eventually fell asleep, we we woke up to our last day! We had a scrumptious fry-up once more, and then went down to The Vyne, a beautiful Tudor house with – you name it – clocks! My weird obsession with them had come true! There was a grandfather clock, but not just any grandfather clock! It was the first one ever to have had two hands, and a date calendar at the bottom, plus it was the most antique thing in the house, and it still worked, only to be wound up every seven days!
In the roof, unfortunately, there was a leak, so all of the antique furniture and everything had carefully been put into little white packages so that they wouldn’t get wet, but they had to cover up all of the clocks apart from three! Hopefully we should come again and see everything ‘uncased’…
I hope we get to go to Southampton again! It was truly amazing, even though the name sounds a bit boring – if you see what I mean 😉
