I can only apologise for being so long on my website! Of course, though, I am not writing posts because I haven’t been busy, and instead lazing on the sofa, but because I have been too busy to write out anything at all (apart from stories, indeed). There have been more clubs, less clubs, fun outings, boring outings, new friends, by all means not less friends, etc. etc. I suppose it would take a long time to list down everything, from one word to the very last, so I may have to brief with some things, and take paragraph after paragraph with others.
It was fun especially on this particular day..! It snowed on the ground, for just one day, and we made snowmen and other fun things like that. The best thing about it was when we were gathering snow by the shed when we found..*
…* this! It’s a cat skull, and we found all the missing bones in it, hopeful to piece it together and make a full cat skeleton like scientists!
I will begin with learning. As you probably know, sitting down and listening to someone talking about what seems like nonsence is more than boring, but this was not nonsence, nor was it sitting bored while listening about the great King Arthur and blah blah blah. (I find that the most annoying thing is when you try not to drift away into a long silence, and then you begin to think about the last time you drifted away in silence, and then you remember what you were trying to learn about at the time that you began to drift, and within no time you are drifting.) This time, one of my very best friends came round to do some non-drifting work. You may have heard about her before. She’s called Grace.
Grace came round to do some work on our lapbooks. Our lapbooks are about Gothic architecture and art, which is most interesting, especially when you’re on an actual laptop doing research. I have to admit, I much rather like to look Wikipedia or something than read history books aimed for my older sister’s age. Wikipedia and all the other fun websites for kids are much better than squinting down at word after word of long words like ‘antidisestablishmentarianism’. Well, maybe not that long, but still.
With this, I have realised that I must be briefer, far briefer, for I have a lot more to go through. So, to be quick, we did some mini books ourselves on Gothic architecture, using quick glances at the websites we look at for information. Then we stick on some pictures, do some fun Gothic fonts of ‘GOTHIC ARCHITECTURE’ across the page, and so on, and so on. But before I go onto the next thing, I need you to know that this is much more fun than it sounds.
While we were at Grace’s once, we carried on doing our lapbooks and painted some icons. I think it’s really fun to paint them. We had to make our very own egg tempora, which was really fun! We had to wear special goggles and use amazing powder and eggs and blah bleeblee blah blah – but blahing doesn’t mean ugh, get on with it , it means yay, this is so fun I want to make all paints out of it !!
We brought a game called ‘Jelly Bean Challenge’ where you had to suck as many jelly beans as you could (with a straw!!) and sort them into colour-code.
We painted a stained glass window when Grace came round. It was really entertaining and fun. I drew a flower, while Tilly and Grace did flowers in a flower pot. I think they’re all very pretty, don’t you? Mine is the one on the end in the green, yellow and blue, Grace’s is in the middle with the red, orange, blue and purple and green, and Tilly’s is on the end with the red, blue, orange, yellow, pink, etc.
We started going to a new drama club, too. Our friend Elise goes there, and we made another good friend of ours called Imogen. At drama, our teacher Chanel gives us some amazing dance moves and lyrics from great musicals like Annie and things.
We went to Imogen’s, and we had so much fun going on the trampoline, lounging in the bath tub, doing intricate colouring pictures, etc. etc. I hope we get to go there again soon, or Imogen could come to ours or something. I loved colouring in my Indian elephant!
We went bowling instead of ice-skating, because ice-skating was closed. Imogen, Elise, Grace and we were there. That was very fun; I got a Strike! We went to a science show thing (left) which was very fun too. Sadie was there with us. The lady teaching asked us questions and gave us perfomances. She fired marshmallows with fake trebuchets!
It was Pancake Day too, so we had a Dutch Baby pancake, which is like a pancake version of a yorkshire pudding. It was delicious with lemon and icing sugar! It was funny because straight afterwards we made a stirfry at my club Cubs as it was Chinese New Year. I started the new trend of eating raw beansprouts!
