14-21 August
Today – Monday – was a stay-in day. I was up again doing my cups at six in the morning, writing my story, and so on, and for the rest of the day I did some of my Latin and maths and more cup-stacking. I even did a cup-stacking tutorial for how to do a 3-stack, and today I’m showing how to do a 6-stack! 😀
For the rest of the week we did a bit of work and A LOT of Minecraft PE – more than intended… on Tuesday we did some of that, some work, and went to the park; and we’ve been getting so good at Latin recently that I’ve actually written a story in it! We’re working through the Cambridge Latin books. I’ve posted my story on a page on Facebook called ‘Latin Home Eddies’, and loads of people commented and said they couldn’t do what I’d just done in their A-levels! (Hee hee hee, I’m very proud of myself…)
On Wednesday, again, we went to the park. Sometimes, instead of reading about our science and learning it that way, we watch Attenborough or something, so this time, we watched Neil deGrasse Tyson’s ‘Cosmos’ documentary. It’s really good, but it’s funny when he says Cosmos, because he says ‘Cos-moh-ss’ in a really funny, long voice! 😀
This Thursday, we went out to pick some blackberries, because Mummy was going to make a tart with them. We did have some in our garden, but most were too high to reach, so we went down the road and picked the ones near the big bridge nearby. When we got back, Mummy said, “Eggs?” So we all had to walk up to the shop to get them! Anyway, we made the tart in the end, but it actually tasted a lot more like quiche, so we called it blackberry quiche.
Friday, we went to drama, as usual. Then we went to a country park called Rushmere with our friends Myrren and Jasper. We built a HUGE den – as you can see in the pictures below! In fact, we built one, demolished it, and then built a bigger, BETTER one. We sheltered in it from the rain for a long time while Mummy and Myrren and Jasper’s mum went on a long walk.
On Saturday, Nanny came round. We’re taking up our ‘EAtW’ (Eat Around the World) projects again, and now we’re doing one on Sweden! (Did you know that Saturday is dedicated to Sweets Day in Sweden, and that the average family of two adults and two children eat 1.2 kilos of sweets EVERY SATURDAY!? I know, it’s pretty darned amazing!!) We also watched a film on a Dutch girl called Laura Dekker, who wanted to be the youngest person to ever sail around the world alone. It’s a true story – and she succeeded – and can you guess how old she was? She was only 14 when she left, and 16 when she came back!!
This Sunday, we did some work, played more Minecraft (:D) and watched Attenborough’s documentary Planet Earth. It’s great! X
