21 – 27 August 2017
On Monday highlight was when Tilly and I were walking down the road and a car pulled up in a pothole full of muddy water – RIGHT next to the pavement. And you guessed it, it SOAKED us through, with muddy, cold, horrible water; soaked my new trainers; soaked Tilly’s socks; soaked my top; soaked Tilly’s top; soaked my shorts; soaked Tilly’s trousers. And the worst part: they opened the car window, flicked their cigarette butt onto the ground, closed the window, and DROVE OFF AGAIN.
On Tuesday, Tilly and I did a ‘surprise’ which I can’t tell you about because Mummy is going to check this post π π It was something to do with animals and paper. Not drawing. Animals and paper.
On Wednesday, Tilly went to help at the retirement home, and then our friends Lucia and Dominique came round. We went to a huge country park and it was so fun! There was a massive park and woods. We went with Chia, Dommy, Myrren, Jasper, Grace and Anne, but the last three had to go home sooner and so did Myrren and Jasper, because Myrren was getting her ears pierced. We went on a walk, and then M, J, G, and A (:D) had to go, so Chi, Dom, Tilly and I made a huge den in the woods! It was so much fun! π
On Thursday this week, we went out again with Lucia and Dominique! We picked them up from their house at around ten, and then we all drove to Waddesdon Manor! We’ve been once before but Chi and Dom haven’t so it was a nice surprise for them. The manor was huge and was designed by a French person, so it was very turret-y and curl-y-whirl-y! It was the house of Lord Rothschild. He had a great interest in birds and had his own aviary. Some birds were named after him, most famously the Rothschild Mynah.
Inside the house, the guide gave us a trail to do about the painting on the ceiling of one of the rooms. It was a bit like a jigsaw, but with stickers instead of the jigsaw pieces. Once Dom and I stuck them on upside-down, but it was hard not to, so…
Inside it was even bigger than it had looked from the outside! It had a huge spiral staircase through the middle, which lead up to the ‘Men’s Wing’ where they had a Smoking Room, Billiards Room, and so on π There were a few rooms dedicated to showing off the works of art not fitted in the rest of the house; for instance, a hall full of nineteenth century buttons; a room dedicated to china tea-sets; and another room full of portraits of Queen Elizabeth I. It was SO much fun, I couldn’t believe it when we had to leave π
Every Friday we have drama, so yesterday we went there. Mummy dropped us off in the morning and then went home, because we were going to meet Daddy round the corner! At drama we did one hour of drama, one hour of dance, and one hour of singing. At dance we did some more of one of the songs we’re doing, ‘Power of Love’, by Huey Lewis; at singing we rehearsed the harmonies for ‘Don’t Go Breaking My Heart’, by Elton John and Kiki Dee; and at drama, we pretended to be our characters while walking round the room, and played a lot of drama-ry games π After drama, Tilly and I walked round the corner to meet Daddy! We bought some frenchstick, had lunch in the park, and played in it for a while. This time, instead of its pouring continous rain, it was beaming down its continous sun, to the point we were about to go and get some suncream from Wilkos π We then went to ‘Ye Olde Sweet Shoppe’, and I bought 50 grams of peppermint chews, and 50 gramsd of raspberry fizz balls. Tilly got a Pick’n’Mix with things like sweetie necklaces in it and so on. We went to Costa, had a chat, ate some of our sweets, had a look at the shops, and went to Waterstones. Daddy bought me a book called ‘The Neverending Story’, which I’ve been meaning to read for a while. We also went inside St. Mary’s Church to have a look around.
On Saturday, we had loads of fun at a ‘family gathering party’! It was Nanny’s brother Paddy’s and his wife Marilyn’s 50th wedding anniversary so we saw lots of family members that we didn’t even know were related to us! π There was a huge buffet out all day long (I think that was William’s favourite part) full of random bits ‘n’ bobs like chicken, cubes of crystalised ginger (my favourite part!!), and some Thai food that Uncle Eamon’s Thai wife Auntie Duam had brought, and best of all, THREE pudding-courses! There was one full of pies like apricot and almond pie, raspberry pie and so on, one with random bits and bobs, like passionfruit meringue and fruit salad, and one with cake and trifle! It was amazing, though I couldn’t eat much of the last course because I’d filled myself up on so much else!
Tilly and I played with a really cute little boy called Sebby, the same name as our cousin! We played with him for ages and he was adoooorrrable! We used all the cushions in the garden to make a massive heap, and then he said, ‘I’ll jump on them!’ We told him he might need a little help, so we walked him over and did a banana split with him onto the cushions! His dad came over and filmed it, and he kept saying, ‘Again! Again! Bna split again!’ It was really funny when he kept saying ‘bna’! ;D When we had to go and I went over to say bye-bye, he ran to the cushions, and when I said, ‘Do you want another banana split?’ He said, ‘No,’ and buried his face in the cushions he was so sad! Bless him!
I asked Marilyn if she could show me some of her antiques (because I’m weird and I love antiques), and she showed me them all AND (best part) gave me a huge, old book called ‘Dictionary of Antiques’ for me to take home! It was amazing! ‘Uncle Tommy’ is actually our Great Great Uncle, and he said, ‘Oooh, ooh yes, I’m going to be ninety, ooh, oooh!’ And everyone was laughing! Maybe we’ll go to his 90th party! π
We got back home very late, at about ten, and I fell asleep as soon as the landing light went out!
Yesterday, on Sunday, I was very sleepy so we didn’t do much. At one point I tried to have a nap; drew my curtains, got into bed – but then Tilly pursuaded me to go on Minecraft. We played on that for a little, played Harry Potter Cluedo in the garden, and did a little work.
