The Wind in the Willows

We went to a Wind in the Willows play after our usual Thursday club! We had a tasty posh picnic on the lovely grass outside the hall, and Mummy said she wished she could have a glass of wine like the other people instead of driving home and having one at one o’clock in the morning! 😉

It was really awesome and well-acted. I thought Ratty was brilliant at the facial expressions and things, and Toady was very enthusiastic at his part! We brought a posh picinc dinner, like I said, and blankets and cushions, for it was an open-air theatre in the middle of the night and it was to be freezing! Katie and her mum Chris, Lillian, Nathan and their mum also came too. It started at around eightish, and ended at tenish! It was ten to twelve when we finally came home, wrapped in blankets and snuggling up with our warm teddies! It was nice and comfy when we got home.

Toady of Toad Hall was a bouncy fellow! He did his jumping with both feet very well, and kept the audience clapping and laughing and well-entertained. And that’s the thing – I thought it was going to be like the cinema, where it’s all shouting children and you don’t know what the film’s saying, but the only children were us, really! Katie and Tilly went to the back for the second half, while Mummy and I gobbled up jelly babies nearer to the front!

Badger was brilliant at his graveness, if that’s how I’m meant to put it! He was very good at telling Toad to behave himself, I must say, and that way was also very good at his part. Moley was great, and the Weasles were extremely funny-looking! They had mirrored sunglasses and these crazy hairdos!

There was an interval at about half nine, and then they finished off the play. It was hilarious! When we got home, as I say, we were almost asleep in the back of the car!
