Starring: Rob Brown
My mum and I watched this film together to continue our trend of sports films/dramas/feel good films, and I was surprised to find out just now that the main character in The Express─played by Rob Brown─was also a main character in Coach Carter, which I watched and reviewed just a few days ago. It’s interesting that we didn’t recognise him while watching The Express─a sign that he’s a very good actor, because his mannerisms and acting style changed so much that he was effectively unrecognisable, even though he looked exactly the same.
The Express is the saddening true story of a young black man from New York who, in the 1960s, rose up the ranks of his football team against all odds, eventually becoming the first African American to win the Heisman Trophy. The film was heartbreaking and inspiring, with exceptional acting to top it all off.
