When the Browns found Paddington on the station of that name, they were expecting that he had somewhere to go and that he would not stay with them for more then a few nights. But the little bear persuades them to keep him by getting up to all sorts of adorable adventures no one can stop laughing about, such as when he accidentally smashes old Mr Curry’s “new” watch when attempting a magic trick on his birthday.
I wasn’t particularly impressed with the illustrations in the book, which looked nothing like a bear, let alone Paddington himself. However, I was incredibly pleased with the story-line and the way the book was written; there were only one or two tales that were not quite pitch-perfect, and these were still outstandingly hilarious.
