When Alice disappeared down a hole after a white rabbit with kid-gloves and a waistcoat-who ran past muttering ‘The Duchess! Ah, me, the Duchess!’-she was not expecting anything more unusual than this particular happening. Her expectations were wrong; for she soon met the Queen of Hearts, with her rather harsh sentences; the old Mock Turtle, with his dull, sad story of the olden days; the funny little Mouse, who hated cats and dogs; and the Mad Hatter and the March Hare, with their queer ‘it’s always dinnertime’ remarks.
I gave this book five stars because it was so funny and well-written. I think Alice was a bit like me in the sense that she was always talking, laughing, and she was always content (unless the Duchess was leaning her pokey chin on her. Then she was certainly not content). I already started reading the sequel as soon as I turned the ‘The End’ page!
