Harriet is, on the outside, an ordinary American schoolgirl. But she’s not. She is a spy. Every afternoon, after school, she spies on a certain number of people, and writes every little thing she notices down in a special notebook. This notepad is crammed full of scribbles. She writes about her friends, her enemies, the teachers at her school, her parents, her house, her thoughts. Nobody is allowed to read her notes. Nobody ever has.
Until, one day, Harriet’s friend Janie gets hold of her pad. She finds the few bad, thoughtless, and unkind things about everyone at school that Harriet has ever written when in a mad mood, and shows them all. They all turn against her – even Janie and Harriet’s best friend, Sport.
Will Harriet ever get her friends back?
