In the town of Twinford, where Ruby Redfort lived, there was an attracting event going on. The most treasured Jade Buddha of Khotan was being moved into America, in the museum, and was going to rise up out of the floor at the stroke of midnight. It was said that whoever looked it into the eyes would have their age halved and their wisdom doubled. As you could guess, it caused a lot of newspaper articles – and nearly everybody in Twinford were going to watch the ceremony.
Ruby was one of them. But unfortunately she missed nearly all of it, because she was busy in the hands of Baby Face Marshall, Count von Viscount, and Nine Lives – or Valerie Capaldi. So busy, in fact, that she was nearly dead by the time she arrived back at the museum.
You see, a strange man who claimed himself to be the Redforts’ butler, called Hitch, who had dragged her into the Spectrum secret spy agency group in order to find out who was plotting a plot to steal the Jade Buddha of Khotan. It was up to her now to do without showing everyone everything – and that was hard, especially with the archenemies listed earlier dealing with her.
Will she miss the event? Will anybody find out? And worst of all, when she falls into the hands of Count von Viscount and the rest, will she escape her punishing treatment?
