Pippi Longstocking lived all alone, for her parents were both dead or, as she so enjoyed believing, her mamma was an angel and her pappa was king of the natives. Lots of the people in the town thought she deserved to go to an orphanage or a children’s home, but when the police came along she simply picked them up with her bizarre strength, shut the gate, and went home to her leather suitcase full of gold coins and her monkey, Mr Nilsson. Plenty of her adventures were rather like this one, and often the only question I could say to myself when I was reading it was, ‘When I am ever going to put this book down? I appear to be engulfed in all the brilliance of its text!’
I thought this book, by amazing Astrid Lindgren, was really interesting and hilarious, for every sentence contained some sort of fun and wit, which is the perfect book I like! The brilliant illustrator, who you may know more as the author Lauren Child, made every page interesting and miraculously drawn and interpreted! I really loved this book and I could definitely read it again.
