This book was hard for me to read at first, but once I read along with the audio book, I just could not put it down.
Sapphire is the new life of Hetty, the same person, just with a different name. She travels to her business with Mr Buchanan, the hateful ‘monkey-man’, and sets off for walks each Sunday after church with the butcher’s boy Bertie. He takes her to beautiful and marvellous places – the river, the fair and all sorts. But can Sapphire (Hetty) possibly survive alone?
