Madlyn and Rollo were sent away to live in Clawstone Castle with their aunt and uncle, while their parents went to a holiday meeting in New York City. However, the neighbouring castle’s owner, Lord Trembellow, was anxious to team up with the unwealthy castle, and used what he could to make his towers better than Clawstone. When he found out the Wild White Cattle of Clawstone were making the poor aunt and uncle hang on to their territory, he pretended to be a vet with the rest of his family, and said that they were ill with Klappert’s Disease.
He and his daughter and wife planned out such an evil plot that the cattle was sent away to be executed. However, Dr. Manners of Island Blackscar managed to disguise them and take them to his hotel, where he planned to save their lives and take them to a wonderful cow paradise where they could spend the rest of their lives grazing as white cows under shady trees.
But Lord Trembellow had sneakily said that without the cattle, Clawstone would never be allowed to hold its Open Days again. Now that the cows were safely away, much to Rollo’s happiness and delight, they were still gone, and everybody thought they were dead and buried.
Unfortunately, Rollo, Madlyn and their best friend Ned find out the dreadful truth of Dr. Manners, and see that their cattle are not safe. Join the three children to find out how the dramatic, most intriguing part of the book ends…
