I thought the first few chapters on this large book were great, about the adventures of Mowgli the man-cub, and the wolves, the tiger, the panther and the monkeys – but then I got disappointed for the rest of the book did not follow on. Those last few chapters were about a seal, elephants and talking animals, and so it was all about the other Jungle-People who were left unmentioned at the end of Mowgli’s tale. But apart from that, it was really good.
Basically, the story of the man-cub was about a small boy who was brought up by a pack of wolves in the jungle after his father was killed by Shere Khan. Unfortunately the greedy tiger did not think his job was over, for he was determined to win Mowgli and eat him once and for all. He thought he was meddling with the wolf pack and was unnecessary and unwanted. But his big, kind teacher, Baloo the bear, did not think so; and neither did Bagheera, the panther who helped to bring him up; and so the story continues the endangered life of the man-cub.
