Dorothy was whisked away from kind Aunt Em and busy Uncle Henry in a huge cyclone, and taken to a mysterious land far from home. There she met the Scarecrow, the Tin Woodman, and the Lion, all of whom wanted something. The child, of course, wanted to go back home to Kansas and to her relatives, and the Scarecrow wanted brains; the Tin Woodman was curious to know whether he had a heart or not, and wanted one of these when the argument settled that he hadn’t got one; and the Lion, the big, brave Lion, wanted some courage. The travellers then embarked upon a perilous journey to go and see the Wonderful Wizard of Oz, who lived in the Emerald City he had built. But when they got there, and asked him to send Dorothy home, and give the Lion courage, and the Woodman his heart, and the old Scarecrow his brains, they discovered that he was a little, incapable humbug and couldn’t do anything to help them.
Read this great book to walk along the Yellow Brick Road with Dorothy and her happy friends…
