I quite liked this book. If I could, maybe I’d give it three-and-a-half stars instead of four. It was quite funny, which is probably why I liked it. My favourite characters were Mr Birkway the English teacher and the narrator’s grandparents, Gram and Gramps, because all three were very amusing. It’s the story of a teenage girl called Sal who journeys across the USA with her grandparents to find her mother, who left her and her father a few weeks ago. While on her journey, Sal tells the story of what has happened to her since her Gram and Gramps last saw her. At the end of the book, when Sal’s tale is finished, two terrible things happen: Gram dies, and Sal finds that her mother is dead also (her father knew all along, and I think Sal did too, but it was a little vague). Her mother died in a terrible accident involving a bus and a cliff-edge.
