This book was reasonably funny and had a good plot, but ended on a disappointing cliff-hanger that was placed at such circumstances that it looked like Snicket just couldn’t be bothered to finish it. Also it lacked the Snicket’s iconic dry humour and the quality that illustrates his unique writing. In other words, it was rather mediocre compared to his other works, and this was a bit of a discouraging feature.
