Starring: Joshua Jackson, John Noble, Anna Torv
Rating: 7/10
I’m watching this TV series with Andy, and it took us a good few episodes to get into. That’s primarily because those first few episodes were both really cheesy and really weird. However, there were some really hilarious moments coupled with some sterling acting (especially from John Noble, whom you might recognise from his role in LOTR), and after a while Fringe‘s writers seemed to find where they wanted to go with the programme, and the cheesiness dropped out. The weirdness, however, did not, but as the writers found their footing the weirdness became one of the key elements that makes Fringe Fringe.
What starts out as an FBI, crime/drama programme quickly develops into a sci-fi spin-off a little like The X-Files. Agent Olivia Dunham (Anna Torv) recognises a pattern between paranormal happenings, and must team up with mad professor Walter Bishop (John Noble) and his cynical son Peter (Joshua Jackson) to track down and stop the organisation responsible for these crimes.
