Week #40, 04 – 10 October 2021

Monday

Today, I woke up feeling much better in that I’m not at all sick anymore, but I do now have a cold instead! I spent the morning doing my violin lesson and then getting through the next chapter in my physics book, Mains Electricity. This chapter is primarily to do with a lot of memorising, so it’s not really as interesting as Forces & Motion or Astrophysics or any other units I’ve done.

In the afternoon, I snivelled myself up to swimming, in which lesson I swam a mile! That’s 64 lengths, or 1600 metres. I’m really proud of myself because that took about forty-five minutes and the most I’ve done before then was 54 lengths in the same time! So that shows my improvement over the term.

In the evening, I had a maths lesson not with Damian but another teacher called Mike, because Damian was at Cambridge University doing some teachery mathsy thing. We looked at prime numbers and different mathematical tricks you can use to figure out if a very large number is prime or not without having to factorise it.

Tuesday

Today, I basically did nothing but physics and my instrument practice! My teacher showed me this really cool app called Practice Space, where she can set me assignments and stuff for daily practice. We can also race each other as there’s a leaderboard showing who out of Katharine’s students did the most practice that day/week!

In Physics, I covered the last chapter of the unit on Electricity. When I did this unit before, it took me many weeks, so you can see how much physics I must be doing to complete it in 2 days!

In the evening, I went to the gym with Tilly and did a really intense virtual biking class. Then I watched the final of Masterchef – time for a new series now!

The rest of the week…

I’ve been getting really behind with my blog recently which is not a good thing. However, literally all that I’ve done this week is physics and going to the gym! As of today (which is actually Tuesday next week 🤨) I’m on the fourth unit of the physics book, Energy Resources and Transfer. I’m a little bit behind but if I crack on today and do a little extra, I should be back on track. In a way I’m quite confident about my mark as I can remember everything in the textbook easily, but I’m also not because any time I take a past paper I seem to get a lot of things wrong! I think that’s because they want a particularly phrased answer so even if my answer was technically correct, it’s not what they wanted and I don’t get the mark.

Wish me luck!!
