Week #6, 7 – 13 February 2022

Monday – Friday

I’ll be sitting my biology and Latin GCSEs in May-June this year. For anyone who’s confused about my posts on taking a Latin GCSE last January, that wasn’t technically speaking a real GCSE as I explain in my posts; that was the Level 1 certificate, and the exam I take this summer will be the Level 2, or the “real” GCSE.

So most of this week was spent just doing biology, Latin, reading The Rational Optimist and Dante – with the exception of…

Thursday – opera!

On Thursday, I jumped on the train which Tilly and some of her college friends had got on at a few stops back after college finished. It was lovely to be introduced to her friends, who I’ve heard so much about but haven’t met yet. (I only got to see 4 friends today, but we’re arranging a day out in London sometime soon to see all the rest of them!)

We got off at London, where we mooched around a bit, got some delicious dinner at Sushimania (chicken sesame teriyaki and wasabi sushi, to be exact!), and a drink at Costa – I can never go into any city without getting Costa! After sightseeing a little around the London Bridge and Eye and various other pretty attractions, we walked down to the London Coliseum to see the opera La Boheme. It was really beautiful inside the opera house and the opera was of course brilliant. I discovered at my optician appointment last week that I actually need glasses (though I only need them rarely when looking at things far away – like the opera!), and I realised how badly I needed them when I struggled to make out the subtitles and even the people in La Boheme! So while I had little idea what was actually going on, it was still great 👍😂

Some of the photos are very blurry. I must not have realised that in the dark!
